Show Us Some Tricks With Your Limericks
All you rhymers out there, don your poet’s boots. It’s time once again for the annual Spokesman-Review/St. Patrick’s Day Limerick Contest.
As we’ve done over the past two years, we’ve set up some rules:
* Enter as many limericks as you want, but make sure that they all conform to standard limerick form: five lines, with lines one, two and five rhyming, lines three and four rhyming and all of it done in anapestic rhythm (eg., dah-dah-DUM, dah-dah-DUM, dah-dah-DUM).
* Make sure your entries explore this year’s theme: the Inland Northwest in the new millennium.
* Meet the deadline: Wednesday, March 8.
Send your entries to: Limerick contest, c/o Dan Webster, The Spokesman-Review, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210. Fax them to (509) 459-5098. Or e-mail them to danw@spokesman.com.
