What could be better than sipping good beer while listening to good music? Doing it on a mountaintop on a beautiful summer day, that’s what. Silver Mountain’s Microbrew Festival, Saturday 1-6 p.m., features ska-funk from Civilized Animal and the reggae sounds of Stumpa and Gathered Nations, along with more than 40 brews. EVENTS Blasts from the past
If you haven’t checked out Allegro’s Royal Fireworks Festival for a few years, it’s much more than a classical concert with skyrockets these days. The full-blown, two-day festival Saturday and Sunday turns Riverfront Park into an English village circa 1749, with plenty of period entertainment including a live chess match (with human pieces) both days at 4 p.m., Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors” Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and, of course, the concluding concert Sunday at 9 p.m. It all starts at noon both days; admission is free.
