Utility Offers New Meter Reading

Kootenai Electric Cooperative has begun offering automated meter reading to its 16,000 members.

The technology electronically sends meter readings over the phone lines to the KEC offices. The device does not interrupt phone service and transmits digital data only.

For homes that are inaccessible during winter, the new technology provides accurate readings rather than estimated bills.

The co-op currently contracts meter-reading services with independent contractors. For more information, call 765-1200.
