Tea Parties Planned At Art Gallery
The Art at Work Gallery, already a magical, colorful place with more than 80 regional artists’ work on display, will venture further into fantasy this weekend when it is transformed into Alice’s Wonderland as the site of two fantasy parties.
The free “Teddy Bears ‘n Tea” event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. features a preview of the 30 individually designed tables for the second annual “Mad Hatter Tea Party” on Sunday.
There will also be a bear and gift boutique Saturday, as well as teddy bear appraisals. Local experts Penny and Polly Zarnesky will conduct appraisals for $5 per person, which includes a certificate and photograph of the bear.
Sunday afternoon, Art at Work reopens its doors - or rabbit hole - for the wild adventure of a Mad Hatter Tea Party from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is $25 per person, with proceeds benefiting the Cheney Cowles Museum, which operates the gallery.
“In addition to the creative and beautifully set tables, the Tea Party features an afternoon of delectable food, exquisite music, and a fashion show,” says Yvonne Lopez Morton, the museum’s public relations and marketing coordinator.
There will also be a boutique, door prizes, raffle and silent auction.
Seating is limited and advance reservations are required; call 456-3931. Art at Work is located at 123 N. Post in downtown Spokane.
