Commission Slows Subdivision Plan
Planning and zoning commissioners have held back a proposal to develop the town’s largest subdivision.
Commissioners told Panhandle Resources Inc. they wanted more information about the 350-lot development before scheduling a public hearing. After commissioners acquire data on the land’s ownership and the subdivision’s water and sewer designs, then the public will be able to comment on the proposed development.
“The application is black and white on what should be submitted,” said Commissioner Gary Ventress at Monday night’s meeting. “Being planning and zoning, we have to follow procedures and we can’t put the carriage before the horse.”
Mel Algar, president of Panhandle Resources, said the company will provide maps of proposed sewer lines, as well as include dimensions for each lot at the commission’s next meeting, July 5.
