Potato Buttermilk Bread Not Bad, But Not Great
A couple of months ago, Snyder’s Bakery launched five new breads that officials dubbed their “Premium Variety” and promoted as being unique to the Northwest.
We put one of the five, Emerald Farms Potato Buttermilk to the test with our Reader Food Panel.
The bread received an overall average rating. Not bad, but nothing special, our tasters said.
But when we described the other four varieties in the new lineup, our tasters thought we had picked the least exciting. Several members later tasted the other varieties on their own and informally reported that they were better than the Potato Buttermilk variety we served.
The other varieties include: San Juan Island 9 Whole Grain, Napa Valley Raisin Nut, Glacier Park Hearty Oak and Columbia River Sweet Dark Whole Grain.

Comments: “For white bread, the texture is nice and a little heavier than your typical loaf. Would make a good leftover turkey sandwich on Thanksgiving night.” - Tina Johnson
“Nothing special. Texture and taste are OK, but it doesn’t compare with fresh homemade.” - Larry Inman
