Worldcom-Sprint Merger In Trouble
A proposed $129 billion merger between U.S. telecommunications giants WorldCom Inc. and Sprint Corp. has run afoul of antitrust regulators in Europe, a development that sinks the deal unless the companies make some last-minute concessions.
European regulators complain that the merger would result in one company dominating high-level Internet access around the world.
Neither company would discuss the matter Wednesday.
The regulators must make a decision by July 12.
