John Austin Named Interim Administrator
John Austin, Coeur d’Alene’s former finance director, is now working as Spirit Lake’s interim city administrator.
Mayor Bill Moe announced Austin’s appointment at a City Council meeting on Tuesday. He will continue to work on an interim-basis as Spirit Lake’s city administrator while a financial plan is created that deals with the city’s infrastructure needs.
Previously, Austin was Coeur d’Alene’s finance director and city treasurer. His resignation was announced on Feb. 23.
In a press release Friday, Moe stated he’s looking forward to working with Austin.
“The city of Spirit Lake is very fortunate to have a person with John’s background and expertise available to us. The city is looking forward to a long and productive future with John Austin as our city administrator.”
Austin will develop a long-range financial plan for the city.
“Like many cities big and small, Spirit Lake faces substantial issues concerning its waste water facilities and also its road system,” Austin said.
Recently, Austin has provided consulting for several local cities.
