Tim Castle Will Seek County Sheriff’S Post

Tim Castle of Osburn will run for election as Shoshone County sheriff, he said Friday. Castle, 53, will be on the November ballot as an independent.

“Politics should stop when you take office,” he said. “You’re not swearing to be the best Democrat or Republican, you’re promising to be the best police officer you can be.”

Castle, a native of Shoshone County, has an associate degree in police science and has been a law officer in Washington, Alaska and Idaho. He owns and operates Castle & Son’s Security, a small company serving homes and businesses in the Silver Valley.

Castle said he is “answering the call from prominent members” of both parties to run against incumbent Sheriff Dan Schierman. He ran unsuccessfully against Schierman, a Democrat, in 1996.

Asked what he would change once in office, Castle said: “We need a working sheriff. We don’t need a sheriff who’s in the office five days a week and has weekends off.”
