Fairfield Library Adjusts Hours

The Fairfield Branch Library will have new Saturday hours starting this week.

The library will open at 10:30 a.m., a half hour earlier than in the past, and close for lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m., then remain open until 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday hours will not change.

The noon closure will give the Saturday librarian a lunch break.

The new weekly schedule for the library is Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Spokane County Library regionsl manager Priscilla Ice said since the library was expanded and renovated last year circulation is up almost 20 percent.

“Actually, use is up more than statistics indicate,” Ice said. “People are coming into the library and staying longer, using the Internet stations or reading.”
