Mary Martin Sandpoint
Service for Mary Martin, 79, was held Monday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint.
Mrs. Martin, who was born in Onaway, Mich., died Thursday.
She moved to Sedro Woolley, Wash., in 1950 and settled in Sandpoint in 1953.
She worked at Bonner General Hospital and later worked for Sandpoint Manor for many years. She retired in 1977 due to health reasons and worked as an independent home health care provider for the elderly.
She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Church in Sandpoint and was active in gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Williams of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Marilyn Kemp of Sandpoint; four sons, Roy Martin of Sandpoint, Gerry and Everett Martin, both of Gold Beach, Ore., and Gordon Martin of Coquille, Ore.; a brother, Elmer Whaley of Michigan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

JoAnn Schnieders Post Falls
Rosary for JoAnn Schnieders, 87, was held Monday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Requiem Mass will be today at 8 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls.
Miss Schnieders, who was born in Rheine, Westfalia, Germany, died Thursday.
Born in Rheine, Westfalia, Germany, Miss Schnieders immigrated to the United States. She received training as a licensed practical nurse and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
After her retirement she worked as a housekeeper in Nebraska until moving to the Post Falls area in the early 1980s.
Miss Schnieders was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Survivors include a brother, Herman Schnieders of Nebraska; and one niece, Diane Batenhorst of Nebraska.
Joseph Murphy Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Joseph Michael Murphy, 43, will be today from 9 to 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Murphy, who was born in Panama City, Fla., died on Mineral Ridge Wednesday as the result of a homicide.
He lived in the Orange County, Calif., area until moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1989 and had worked as a purchasing agent at Unitech Composites Inc. in Hayden, Idaho.
Mr. Murphy was involved in softball and outdoor recreation, including fishing and cross country-skiing. He also was involved with Big Brothers.
Survivors include a brother, William Murphy of Alhambra, Calif.; and three sisters, Elizabeth Burg and Mary Murphy, both of California, and Jeanine Murphy of Coeur d’Alene.
Marion Sargent Spokane
Service for Marion G. Sargent will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sargent died Friday. She was 80.
She graduated from North Central High School.
Mrs. Sargent was a lifetime Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband of 56 years, Phil, died in 1997.
She is survived by a son, Lonnie Sargent of Spokane.

Ricky Reynaldo Figueroa Pinehurst, Idaho
Memorial service for Ricky Reynaldo Figueroa, 39, will be today at 11 a.m. at United Church of Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of cremation.
Mr. Figueroa, who was born in Wallace, died Thursday from natural causes.
He grew up in the Silver Valley and in 1979 graduated from Kellogg High School in 1979.
He married Shanon McCorkle in 1982.
Mr. Figueroa had been working as an explosives technician for Northwest Energetic Service of Deer Park.
He was a member of the Kellogg Booster Club. He was involved in bowling, hunting, and youth basketball and was a Little League Baseball coach and a baseball umpire.
Survivors include his wife; and two children, Robbie and Jennifer Figueroa, at home; his father, Bill Galloway of Absarokee, Mont.; and six brothers and sisters, Vickie Findley of St. Maries, Danny Figueroa of Kingston, Idaho, Tom Figueroa of Las Vegas, Connie Keene and Terri Kenyon, both of Kellogg, and Kim Harrington of Coeur d’Alene.

Eleanor Braddock Bayview, Idaho
Service for Eleanor M. Braddock, 84, was held Monday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will take place at a later date at Southern Memorial Park in North Miami Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Braddock, who was born in Chicago, died Saturday.
She grew up and graduated from high school in the Miami area and then worked as a bookkeeper for the Lindsey Lumber Co. there.
She married Skippy Braddock in 1936, and they lived in Miami and operated a greyhound training track for many years before selling the business in 1958 and moving to Longwood, Fla. She retired and moved to Grants Pass, Ore., in 1972.
Mrs. Braddock returned to Florida in 1978. Her husband died in 1983. She moved to Bayview in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Braddock Jr. of Apopka Fla., and a daughter, Patricia Youngs of Bayview; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Zabena James College Place, Wash.
Visitation for Zabena Byne “Billie’ (Spletzer) James, 95, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will be held later in the summer.
Mrs. James, who was born in Munson, Pa., died Thursday.
Her family moved to Spokane in 1909.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. James moved to the Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center in College Place in 1993.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jim Marshall and Harry James.
Mrs. James is survived by three nieces, Darlene Butner of Castro Valley, Calif., and Tina Porcuincula and Toni Sherman, both of San Ramon, Calif.; and two nephews, A.G. Killgore of Walla Walla and Fred Oestman of Glide, Ore.
Fern Meyer Gig Harbor, Wash.
Graveside service for Fern Meyer, 85, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane. Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor is in charge of arrangements.
A 60-year former Spokane resident, Mrs. Meyer died last Tuesday. She was born in Fort Morgan, Colo.
She owned and operated a beauty salon in Spokane, and moved to Gig Harbor three years ago.
She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha.
Her husband, George, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Milligan of Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Suver of Gig Harbor; and two grandchildren.
Sherry Durbin Spirit Lake, Idaho
Memorial service for Sherry Lynne Durbin, 39, was held Sunday at the Athol Community Baptist Church. Private burial was planned at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Durbin, who was born at Great Lakes Naval Base, Ill., was killed Tuesday in an automobile accident on U.S. Highway 95 near Chilco, Idaho.
She was a longtime Spirit Lake area resident and worked at the Lil Country Inn in Spirit Lake.
Mrs. Durbin was a member of Athol Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald; two sons, Jared and Antony Durbin, both of Spirit Lake; a stepson, Shannon Ray Durbin of Portland; her mother, Ellen Shepler of Post Falls; three sisters, Kathy Barnett of Kansas, Sandra Cassidy of Spokane and Kerry Shepler of Post Falls; a brother, Robert Shepler of Coeur d’Alene; and one granddaughter, Wate.
Kamela Durbin Spirit Lake, Idaho
Memorial service for Kamela LaVina-Marie Durbin, 16, was held Sunday at the Athol Community Baptist Church. Private burial was planned at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kamela, who was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, died Wednesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on U.S. Highway 95 near Chilco, Idaho. Her mother, Sherry Durbin, also died in the accident.
She was a cheerleader at Timberlake Junior/Senior High School in Spirit Lake and also had been a cheerleader at Priest River (Idaho) Junior High School last year.
She was the manager of wrestling teams at Timberlake and Priest River Jr. High and also kept team statistics.
Kamela was a member of Athol Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father, Gerald Durbin of Spirit Lake; two brothers, Jared and Antony Durbin, both of Spirit Lake; a stepbrother, Shannon Ray Durbin of Portland; and grandparents, Ellen Shepler of Post Falls, and Richard and Marquetta Kerns of North Bend, Ore.; and numerous other relatives.
Rodney Johnson Rathdrum, Idaho
Memorial service for Rodney G. Johnson, 42, was held Monday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Mr. Johnson, who was born in Long Beach, Calif., died Thursday.
He graduated from Post Falls High School and attended North Idaho College.
Mr. Johnson worked as a millwright for Louisiana Pacific for 18 years. He later worked for Potlatch for five years.
He was involved in various outdoor sports, including water and snow skiing, hunting, snowmobiling and fishing. He was the 1999 winner of the K & K Fishing Derby.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Lake Pend d’Oreille Club and the Coeur d’Alene Aero Modeling Society.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Thomas; three daughters, Tanya Johnson and Jennine Johnson, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Heather Spenst of Minot, N.D.; his father, Gene Johnson of Post Falls; and two sisters, Vicki Kugler of Lewiston and Lorie Howard of Post Falls.

Virginia Fuge Spokane
Service for Virginia G. Fuge, 76, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Fuge died Friday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.
Her husband, Charles, died in 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Fuge of Elk and Ruth Schwartz of Hermiston, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Roy Walter Odessa, Wash.
Service for Roy A. Walter, 90, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Heritage Church in Odessa. Burial will follow at Odessa Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Odessa resident, Mr. Walter died Saturday.
He was a farmer and cattleman in the Odessa area.
Mr. Walter was a member of Odessa Grange, Lincoln County Pomona Grange and the Odessa Riders’ Club. He was a seventh-degree member of the National Grange.
His first wife, Naomi, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ella; a daughter, Enza Smith of Seven Bays, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Kissler of Spokane; a brother, Richard Walter of Moscow, Idaho; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Iona Winch St. Maries
Service for Iona Bernadine Winch, 77, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. A gathering for family and friends will follow at the St. Maries Elks Lodge. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
Mrs. Winch, who was born in Leland, Idaho, died Wednesday.
She grew up and attended school in Leland and transferred to Kendrick (Idaho) High School her freshman year. She graduated in 1941.
Mrs. Winch married Raymond Hudson that year, and the couple later divorced.
She married George Peters in 1952. He died in 1964.
She operated an accounting business from her home until she retired earlier this year.
She married Forrest Winch in 1968. He died in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, David Hudson of Clarkston, Wash., and Kim “Vince” Peters of St. Maries; a sister, Vera Decker of Spokane; three grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Arbina Brezina Oak Harbor, Wash.
Memorial service for Arbina Isabel “Beanie” (Bambino) Brezina, 79, will be held in Spokane at a later date. Private inurnment will be in British Columbia, Canada. Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Fernie, British Columbia, Mrs. Brezina died Friday.
Her family moved to Spokane when she was a child. She graduated from Rogers High School.
At the beginning of World War II, Mrs. Brezina moved to Portland and worked as a welder at the Kaiser Ship Building Plant.
She returned to Spokane after the war.
Mrs. Brezina worked at the Tijuana Tavern, which she and her husband, Steve, later purchased. They sold the tavern in 1970.
In 1985 they began traveling and moved to Oak Harbor 10 years ago.
She was a member of the Mary Queen Roman Catholic Church and the Minnehaha Pioneers, both in Spokane.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael Rogers of Spokane and Steve Johnson of Oak Harbor; a sister, Eleanor Field of Bothell, Wash.; a brother, Glen Bambino of Spokane; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
