Dale Buell Colville, Wash.

Service for Dale Gordon Buell, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Buell died Sunday.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War, with two years on active duty and five years in reserve duty.

Mr. Buell joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1954. He retired as a senior investigator after 25 years.

In 1979 he moved his family to Colville where he owned a screen printing business. He later owned Pizza-To-Go in Colville. He retired for a second time in 1992.

Mr. Buell joined the Colville Rotary Club in 1980 and served as president and as district governor. In 1983 he was appointed to the Stevens County Civil Service Commission, of which he was chairman for nine years. He was a past exalted ruler for the Colville Elks Lodge. He also was a member and past president of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jan; two daughters, Alison Delay of Spokane and Karen Rainer of Colville; a son, Andy Buell of Spokane; a brother, William Buell of Phoenix; a sister, Joan McCartney of Chicago; and five grandchildren.

Rita Towner Spokane

Memorial service for Rita Towner, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Towner died Monday. She was born in Oakland, Calif.

She was a 30-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Her husband of 43 years, Howard Towner Sr., died in 1986.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Castango of Spokane and Ella Holmes of Ford, Wash.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchild.

Marjorie Condo Spokane

Memorial service for Marjorie Wohl Condo, 58, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Lodge, 315 E. Francis. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Missoula, Mrs. Condo died April 22.

A 34-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Condo worked as a waitress and a cook.

Survivors include four children, Mike and Mark Kester, both of Spokane, Terry Larsen of Plains, Mont., and Chris Drain of Sherwood, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren.

Donald Hill Spokane

Memorial service for Donald Jay Hill, 35, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Hill died April 10 while visiting his sons in Kona, Hawaii.

He worked as a roofer in the home construction industry.

Survivors include two sons, Donald and Jonathen Hill, both of Kona; two daughters, Jessica and Makayla Hill, and two brothers, Robert Clark and Guy Hill, all of Spokane; and five sisters, Lilly Candler of Spokane, Marie Kelling of Twin Lakes, Idaho, Sue Kalar of Sumner, Wash., Pam Hill of Portland and Georgia Strang of Calgary, Alberta.

Paul Sepulveda Spokane

Memorial gathering for Paul Eugene Sepulveda, 68, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Spokane Club. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sepulveda, who was born in Pasadena, Calif., died Monday.

He served as a radar operator in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Sepulveda graduated from the California Technological Institute and worked as an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry.

He later owned and operated Control Box Specialist for 30 years.

In 1990 he moved to Spokane and married Joanne Wittner.

Mr. Sepulveda was involved in the University of Southern California Mexican-American Alumni Association, Salisian Youth Club and the Latin Businessman’s Association.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Carlos Sepulveda; and two sisters, Cecilia Fulton and Dolores Sturdivan.

Arthur Jacobson Spokane

Memorial service for Arthur C. Jacobson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Heights Baptist Church. Graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. May 13 at Missoula City Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Soochow, China, Mr. Jacobson died Monday. He was 73.

His family moved to Missoula when he was an infant.

He served in the Army from 1945 to 1946.

In 1947 he married Violet Rogers.

Mr. Jacobson graduated from the University of Montana in 1949 and then worked for the Carnation Co. in Montana, Oregon and Utah.

In 1954 he moved his family to Mount Clemens, Mich., where he worked for the Tuberculosis Association.

In 1957 he moved west and worked as a field representative for the American Cancer Society and then as the executive director for the Idaho Division.

Mr. Jacobson and his family moved to Southern California in 1961. He worked for an advertising and public relations firm and later started his own agency.

In 1969 he moved back to Missoula and started the Jacobson Advertising and Public Relations Agency.

He entered into the ministry in 1972 and graduated from the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Covina, Calif., in 1976.

Mr. Jacobson became a pastor for Steptoe (Wash.) Community and Oakesdale (Wash.) Baptist churches.

He moved to Spokane in 1981 and became the pastor at Central Baptist Church. After retiring in 1989 he began doing interim work at various churches in Eastern Washington.

Mr. Jacobson was a volunteer for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. He also worked as elder visiting pastor for Grace Baptist Church.

In 1997 he became pastor of Park Heights Baptist Church. He retired a second time in 1999.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Arthur Jacobson of Spokane and Byron Jacobson of Frenchtown, Mont.; four daughters, Geneva Nicholls of Spokane, Geraldine Jacobson of Tacoma, and Teresa Wasley and Loretta Jacobson, both of Superior, Mont.; a foster son, Milton Ewing of Spokane; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Durwood McPheeters Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Durwood Wolverton McPheeters, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colfax (Wash.) Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McPheeters, who was born in Vesta, Minn., died Sunday.

His moved with his family to Colfax and in 1935 graduated from Colfax High School.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1940 and served in the South Pacific during World War II.

After his military service he returned to Colfax and worked for an insurance company for a short time.

He began working for Safeway in 1946 and retired in 1981 as a produce manager.

He moved to Spokane in 1985.

Mr. McPheeters was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Spokane.

His wife, Mary, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Janis Blevins of Spokane and Sally Baker of Cleveland, N.C.; a son, Robert McPheeters of Medical Lake; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dale Rogers Cheney

Memorial Mass for Dale C. Rogers, 66, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Cheney. Private inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lockport, N.Y., Mr. Rogers died Monday.

He was a Spokane-Cheney-area resident for more than 25 years.

Mr. Rogers served in the Air Force for 24 years, including the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He worked as an engineer at PTI for 20 years.

Mr. Rogers was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; two daughters, Angela Lefler and Dawn Rogers, both of Spokane; a son, Frank Rogers of Okanogan, Wash.; a sister, Rena Israel of Wilson, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Mildred Zimmerer Spokane

Memorial service for Mildred Elizabeth (Newman) Zimmerer, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deer Park Church of the Nazarene. Private inurnment will be at Riverside Memorial Park. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zimmerer, who was born in Denison, Wash., died April 23.

Her family moved to Deer Park when she was a child.

She worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell. In 1951 she married Harry Zimmerer and was a homemaker. Her husband died in 1980.

She moved to Spokane eight years ago.

She was a member of Deer Park Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Zimmerer is survived by a sister, Evelyn Yancey of Post Falls.

Rosa `Tody’ Kent Spokane

Visitation for Rosa E. “Tody” (Grant) Kent, 90, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Kent, who was born in Spangle, Wash., died Sunday.

Her family moved to Spokane when she was a child.

She was a teacher at the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Kent was a member of Lincoln Heights Community Church and the Organization of Past Polio Patients.

Her husband, Ober, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two nieces, Jackie Stone of Spokane and Pam Cornmesser of Spangle; and a nephew, Buel Byers of Spangle.

Alice Bell Spokane

Visitation for Alice G. Sieveke Bell, 91, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Fourth Memorial Church. Burial will follow at Chewelah Memorial Park.

Born in Twin Brooks, S.D., Mrs. Bell died Saturday.

She was a 34-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Willard; a son, Wayne Sieveke of Spokane; four daughters, Marlene Hill of Spokane, LaVonne Donahue of Kennewick, Ardell Fuquay of Richland and Kaye Edwards of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Florence Vander Does of Pasco; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Olga Anderson Spokane

Service for Olga C. Anderson, 90, will be at 3 p.m. today at Cooper George. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in San Francisco, Mrs. Anderson died Sunday.

She worked as a secretary in San Francisco and in 1985 moved to Spokane.

She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in San Francisco.

Her husband, George, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Silverman of Spokane; a sister, Doris Castro of San Francisco; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John Haffner Spokane

Funeral Mass for John Bronte Haffner, 53, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Haffner, who was born in Maywood, Calif., died April 16.

He worked as a laborer for the cathedral.

Mr. Haffner is survived by two sisters, Sandy Haffner of Libby, Mont., and Sharon Loreall of Bluffton, Ind.

Grace Melton Spokane

Memorial service for Grace Melton, 89, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home.

Born in Cordova, Ala., Mrs. Melton died Monday.

A 35-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Melton worked as a weaver for the textile industry.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Floyd; a son, Judson Melton of Post Falls; a sister, Hazel Sherer of Jasper, Ala.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Margaret Carroll Malden, Wash.

Memorial service for Margaret McConnell Carroll, 66, will be at 2 p.m. today at Malden Community Church. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carroll, who was born in Colfax, Wash., died Monday.

She graduated from Eastern Washington College and taught school in Ewan, Wash., and Osburn, Idaho.

She was a member of Malden Community Church, Malden Fire Department, Rebekah Lodge and the Grannys Club.

Her husband, Warren, died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, David Carroll of Colbert; a daughter, Brenda Patch of Missoula; a sister, Agnes Veltri of Malden; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Bessie Campbell Almira, Wash.

Service for Bessie B. Campbell, 87, was held Monday at the Almira Community Church. Burial followed at the Almira Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hartline, Wash., Mrs. Campbell died Thursday.

She was a lifetime resident of the Hartline-Almira area.

Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Grand Coulee Grange.

Her husband, Robert, died in 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Svare of Bellevue, Wash.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Marcia Johnson Spokane

A 62-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Johnson died Saturday. She was born in Mountain View, Wyo.

She managed a group home in the Spokane area.

Survivors include two sons, Sherman Johnson of Spokane and Lawrence Johnson of Pittsburg, Calif.; a daughter, Luella Stobie of Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Gerald Slagowski of Evanston, Wyo.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Claire McKinnon Spokane

No service will be held for Claire E. McKinnon, 75. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

A 26-year Spokane resident, Miss McKinnon died Saturday. She was born in Melrose, Mass.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Villanova University.

Miss McKinnon was a teacher at the Cataldo Catholic School in Spokane for 13 years. She retired in 1992 after teaching for 43 years.

She was a member of the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Miss McKinnon is survived by four sisters, Florence McKinnon and Elizabeth Mullett, both of Melrose, Evelyn Noel of Malden, Mass., and Gladys Crocker of Wakefield, Mass.
