Seedings held as Lake City and Moscow advanced to the second round of the A-1 Region I baseball tournament Monday.

Lake City whipped Post Falls 12-2 in six innings, finishing it off with a five-run sixth, while Moscow defeated Sandpoint 10-2.

No. 3 seeded Lake City is at No. 2 Lewiston today while No. 4 Moscow visits No. 1 Coeur d’Alene in the start of double-elimination play. Both are at 4 p.m. Post Falls and Sandpoint were eliminated.

Eric Buford had a two-run double and Jake Lenz a two-run single to highlight the sixth-inning uprising that closed out LC’s 10-run win.

The T-Wolves got two-hit, seven-strike out pitching from Brian Babb.

Adam Busch pitched a three-hitter for Moscow, striking out five, and the Bears worked over two Sandpoint pitchers for 15 hits.

Softball

Lewiston and Moscow will be in Coeur d’Alene today for the second round of the A-1 Region I tournament after winning loser-out games at home Monday.

Moscow, the No. 4 seed, visits No. 1 seed Coeur d’Alene after dispatching No. 5 Post Falls 16-11 and No. 3 Lewiston will play at No. 2 Lake City following a five-inning, 12-0 win over No. 6 Sandpoint. Both are at 5 p.m.

Moscow broke open a tight game with a seven-run fourth inning that featured six of the Bears’ 16 hits.

Jenelle Andrews’ three-run triple highlighted an eight-run fourth inning for Lewiston. The Bengals managed just seven hits, but stole seven bases.

Golf

Bill Witte, a Lewis and Clark senior, won a chip-off against Ferris rival Corey Prugh to claim second place in the Inland Empire Classic at Indian Canyon on Monday.

Brock Mackenzie, a senior at Eisenhower in Yakima, claimed medalist honors in the IE Classic with a 5-under-par 67.

Witte and Prugh both shot 70s.

Ferris won the team title with a four-man score of 300.
