Kellogg Voters Ok Supplemental Levy

Voters in the Kellogg School District approved a two-year supplemental levy for $891,942.

With 73 percent voter turnout on Tuesday, there were 719 in favor of the levy and 261 against.

The levy required only a simple majority to pass. The money will be used to maintain district programs.

“I am pleased with the confidence that patrons of this community have in their schools,” said Kellogg Superintendent Greg Godwin. “Even in some very lean times, they continue to vote to maintain quality schools.”

Due to cutbacks in staff and streamlining operations, the district reduced the amount of this year’s supplemental levy. Citizens Advisory Committee Chairman Dwight Hoeck called that “amazing,” since federal forest funds dropped from $600,000 a few years ago to $165,000 this year.
