Man Wrecks Car After Heart Attack

A Priest River man was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening after having a heart attack and crashing his car into another vehicle.

James Lavern Wells, 62, was driving east on U.S. Highway 2 at about 3:30 p.m. in Priest River when he suffered a heart attack, drifted slowly across the center and collided with a stationary semi-truck at about 5 mph. Wells was taken to Newport Community Hospital and airlifted to Deaconess Medical Center.
