4A

When, where: 1 p.m. Saturday - Big Nine Conference No.2 Richland (12-5) at GSL No. 1 Mead (15-3); GSL No. 2 Ferris (13-4) at Big Nine No. 1 Kamiakin (12-1-1).

At stake: The first-round winners play Nov. 11 for a berth into the state semifinals. The Nov. 11 match will be played at a Big Nine site unless both GSL teams advance.

The state semifinals and finals for Class 4A, 3A and 2A will be held Nov. 17-18 at Federal Way Stadium.

Notes: Mead reached the state quarterfinals last season as the No. 2 seed out of the GSL. The Panthers placed second in state in ‘97.

3A

When, where: 2 p.m. today - Hanford (15-2) at Cheney (11-3-1).

At stake: Winner to state, loser out. The winner will play either Eastmont (12-7) or West Valley-Yakima (14-4).

2A

When, where: Noon Saturday - GNL No. 3 Pullman (9-6-2) at GNL No. 1 Lakeside (12-3-1).

At stake: Winner to state, loser out. The winner will play the top team from the Central Washington Athletic Conference - out of District 5 - either Naches or East Valley-Yakima. The match will be Nov. 11 at the CWAC site.

Notes: Lakeside, in only its third season with soccer, is the only team other than Riverside to win a Great Northern title in the league’s existence.

1A/B boys

When, where: Today - Northeast 1A/B No. 3 Northport (4-4 league) at Northeast 1A/B No. 2 NW Christian (6-2), 2 p.m.; loser out. Friday - Thursday winner vs. Northeast 1A/B No. 1 St. George’s (8-0), at the North Complex, 2 p.m; winner No. 1 to regional, loser No. 2.

At stake: The district sends one team to state. Regionals are Nov. 10-11 at Richland. The state semifinals and finals are Nov. 17-18 at Auburn Stadium.
