Copstead Awarded Volunteer Award
Chris Copstead received the Ed Abbott Award last weekend for outstanding volunteer work in the community.
The award is given each year by the Coeur d’Alene Area Chamber of Commerce in memory of Abbott, who was on track to be chamber board president before his sudden death in 1984.
Copstead was recognized for his work in chamber and civic activities.
For the last two years, Copstead has been the driving force in getting the Commodore float trailer painted. He drives the truck-trailer to all the parades, and takes care of repairs and maintenance.
He is a past chamber board member, past chairman of the Commodores and active in organizing the Awsum Action and chamber annual banquet.
Copstead is a member of the Coeur d’Alene City Council. He has served on the Planning and Zoning commission, the board of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and is a past president of the Idaho Panhandle Kiwanis. Copstead co-chairs the city of Coeur d’Alene’s Enough is Enough anti-drug campaign.
Copstead and his wife, Debbie, have lived in Coeur d’Alene for 19 years. The couple has five children.
