Johnson Victory Creates Opening
Mayor Gus Johnson, who was elected to the Kootenai County Commission last week, will relinquish the office of mayor Jan. 16, said Jim Hammond, city administrator.
Since the new mayor is expected to come from within the City Council, a seat will open up on the council.
The city is now seeking applications to fill that spot. To qualify, a person must be 18 or older, and at least a 30-day resident of the city. The person selected for the vacancy will serve until Dec. 31, 2001.
