Man Leads Deputies On Chase
A man led Spokane County sher- iff’s deputies on a chase Sunday evening while holding a gun to his head, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said. When the incident ended, deputies discovered that the gun was a pellet gun.
Dennis P. Morency, 51, of Caldwell, Idaho, was seen by deputies sleeping in a stolen 1989 Mercury Tracer parked at Players and Spectators, 12828 E. Sprague.
When deputies requested he open a door, Morency pointed a gun at his head and ordered deputies away.
The suspect started the car, drove east on Sprague and turned north on McDonald Road. At McDonald and Mission Avenue, he lost control and crashed into a hydrant.
Morency got out of the vehicle with the gun aimed at his head and ran, police said. A police dog grabbed Morency by the ankle and deputies tackled the suspect, who was taken to a local hospital to be treated for the ankle bite. Morency faces charges of second-degree possession of stolen property and attempting to elude officers. He was in jail Tuesday on a $500 bond.
