Steven Talley Kingston, Idaho
Memorial service for Steven Carl Talley, 59, will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Silver Valley Worship Center in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Talley, who was born in Carthage, Mo., died Monday.
He served in the Army and was a longtime Silver Valley resident.
He married Geraldine “Geri” Hebbard in 1965.
He worked as a mechanic at local auto repair shops before he became disabled in 1967.
He enjoyed fishing, mechanics, camping and outdoor recreation.
Survivors include his wife; nine children, Susan Grondin, Nita Woodard and Jim Talley, all of Arizona, Michael Talley and Kristina Talley, both of Seattle, Tracy Talley of Pinehurst, Idaho, Patricia Talley of Cataldo, Idaho, Pam Nelson of Kingston and Lynn Pfaff of Silverton; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Alfred Bohannon of Pinehurst; a brother, Mike Talley of Cataldo; a sister, Gloria Atkins of Smelterville, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Evelyn Porter St. Maries
Memorial service for Evelyn Hill Porter, 91, will be held at a later date. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Porter, who was born in Denver, died Monday.
She graduated in 1927 from high school in Thermopolis, Wyo., and married Wayne Porter Sr. that same year.
The couple lived in Byron, Wyo., and she worked as a lunchroom cook for the Byron School District until 1966. She then moved to California. Her husband died in 1968.
She returned to Wyoming in 1972 and settled in St. Maries in 1991.
Mrs. Porter enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge in Wyoming.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Porter of St. Maries; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Barbara Maine Hayden, Idaho
No service is planned for Barbara Marie Maine, 80. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Maine, who died Wednesday, was born in Des Moines, Iowa.
She lived in Sacramento, Calif., until moving to Hayden earlier this year to be near family.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Bingham of Post Falls and Judy Hirschkorn of Twin Lakes, Idaho; and two grandsons.

Marjorie Cone Spokane
Service for Marjorie F. Cone, 77, will be at 11 a.m. today at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Moscow (Idaho) Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 33-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Cone died Monday. She was born in Oakland, Iowa.
She graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
In 1953 she married Marvin Cone. Mrs. Cone was a homemaker and a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Dale Cone of Spokane, James Cone of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Charles Cone of Richland; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Raymond Mitten Hayden, Idaho
Vigil service for Raymond L. Mitten, 66, will be at 7 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass is planned for Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene.
Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Mitten died Tuesday.
He served in the Korean War and then worked for Rockwell International as a model builder.
He married Joyce McDonald in 1955. The couple lived in California until settling in Hayden Lake in 1969. He started North American North Plumbing.
Mr. Mitten later worked as a maintenance supervisor for Hagadone Hospitality until retiring in 1997.
He served as an usher at St. Pius Church for many years and enjoyed golf and train collecting.
Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Jan Feely, Debbie Carr, Victoria Kaleff, Lisa Bern, Michele Kirby, and Kelly Murray; two sons, Marty and Christopher Mitten; a sister, Carol Rener of California; and 25 grandchildren.

June Kelly Spokane
No service will be held for June E. Kelly, 55, at her request. The Neptune Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kelly, who was born in Foreman, N.D., died Nov. 14.
She was raised in Havana, N.D., and in 1963 moved to Spokane.
In 1975 she married Franklin Kelly.
Mrs. Kelly worked for Scollard’s Dry Cleaners for the past 18 years, retiring in June.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Randy Duff of Spokane and Jack Kelly of Davenport, Wash.; a daughter, Brenda Kelly of Spokane; three sisters, Mary Walker, Shirley Enderson and Helen Tremblay, all of Aberdeen, S.D.; three brothers, Dennis Duff of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Jim and Jack Duff, both of Havana; and three grandchildren.
David Laird Spokane
Memorial service for David T. Laird, 73, will be at 11 a.m. today at Plymouth Congregational Church. Burial will precede the service at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 23-year Spokane resident, Mr. Laird died Monday. He was born in Fergus Falls, Minn., and graduated from Fergus Falls High School.
Mr. Laird worked as a lineman for Otter Tail Power in Fergus Falls from 1941 to 1953.
In 1954 he married Betty Welch.
They later moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., where he graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology in 1956. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
He and his wife then moved to Bismarck, N.D., where he began working as a sales engineer for McGraw-Edison, the power systems division of Cooper Industries. He was later transferred to Butte, Mont., Boise and in 1978 to Spokane. He retired after 27 years.
Mr. Laird was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Elks Lodge No. 228, the Sons of Norway and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey Laird of Post Falls and Peter Laird of Yelm, Wash.; a sister, Dorothea Opheim of Sequim, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
Julia Marquette St. Maries
No service will be held for Julia Marquette, 84. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Marquette, who was born in Elton, Wis., died Sunday.
She grew up in Wisconsin and married Arthur Marquette in 1934. The couple moved to St. Maries in the early 1940s.
She worked as a cook in area logging camps, as a waitress at local restaurants and also was a homemaker.
The couple divorced in 1970.
Mrs. Marquette was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in St. Maries and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bentley of St. Maries and Lilas Piano of Seattle; a brother, Frank Ostroski of Racine, Wis.; a sister, Frances Namoeich of Detroit; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Grace Thoresen Laguna Hills, Calif.
Private inurnment for Grace Campbell Thoresen, 82, will be held at a later date at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Thoresen died Sunday.
She was born and raised on a wheat farm near Washtucna, Wash. She skipped several grades of school before graduating from Cheney Normal School at age 18.
Mrs. Thoresen began a teaching career in Hubbard, Wash., in a oneroom school. She also taught in the Washington communities of Steptoe, St. John and Garfield, before becoming the head librarian at Cheney High School.
She retired in 1979 and then traveled and played golf. She later lived in Twin Lakes and Dalton Gardens, Idaho.
Mrs. Thoresen was a volunteer at a school in Coeur d’Alene for children with special needs.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Maford Sharp and Ed Thoresen.
Survivors include a son, Richard Sharp of Salem, Ore.; a daughter, Margaret Doneen of Laguna Hills; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Viola `Alice’ (Addington) Swiger Egypt, Wash.
Graveside service for Viola “Alice” (Addington) Swiger, 56, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Cemetery in Ford, Wash., Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Chewelah, Wash., Mrs. Swiger, died Sunday.
She graduated in 1963 from Springdale (Wash.) High School.
Mrs. Swiger and her husband, James, operated cattle ranches in Ford, Wash., and Egypt. She also was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years; two daughters, Patricia Magnus of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Edna Arruda of Descanso, Calif.; two sons, Kenneth and Clint Swiger, both of Davenport, Wash.; two sisters, Lucielle Perkins of Kettle Falls, Wash., and Delta LeBret of Wellpinit, Wash.; four brothers, Mel Addington of Reardan, Wash., Raymond Addington of Ford, Vern Addington of Glenwood, Wash., and Glen Addington of Big Lake, Alaska; a stepsister, Margie Dornquast of Dension, Wash.; three stepbrothers, Jim Russell of Boise, Harry Russell of Molalla, Ore., and Richard Russell of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Evelyn Connett Moscow, Idaho
Graveside service for Evelyn A. Connett, 78, was Wednesday at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint.
Mrs. Connett, who was born in Grenville, N.M., died Saturday.
Her family moved to Saskatchewan when she was an infant. They lived in Canada for nine years and then moved to Cocolalla, Idaho.
In 1938 she married Patrick Connett. They lived in Cocolalla until moving to Sandpoint in 1950.
She worked as a baker at the Thrift Grocery Store in Sandpoint.
Her family moved to Othello, Wash., in 1962, where she was the head baker and managed the store bakery at Vickery’s Store. In 1966 then moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Connett worked as a baker for Albertson’s until retiring in 1980. She also had worked for Vern’s Pies for a year.
She and her husband lived in Spokane until moving to Moscow 2-1/2 years ago.
Mrs. Connett was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Bakers Union Local No. 74 in Spokane.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Patricia Cable of Spokane and Donna Ham of Moscow; a sister, Ellen Bossio of Priest River, Idaho; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Donald Lewis St. Maries
No service will be held for Donald K. Lewis, 63, at his request. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lewis, who was born in Reading, Pa., died Sunday.
He grew up in Crescent City, Calif., and then attended the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego.
Mr. Lewis moved to St. Maries in 1957. He married Mary Jane Munden in 1962. He worked for the St. Maries River Railroad, Potlatch Corp., Emerald Creek Garnet Mines, Diamond International and at various jobs in the timber industry.
He also worked as a professional trapper in the 1970s and early 1980s and wrote and published.
He was divorced in 1980.
Mr. Lewis was a HAM radio operator under the name Idaho Fisher King. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Lewis of Fernwood, Idaho, and Timothy Lewis of St. Maries; a daughter, Cindy Godspy of St. Maries; two brothers, Ronald Lewis of Boise and Jim Lewis of Merrill, Ore.; two sisters, Bonnie of Canada, and Janet “Winkie” Cariveau of North Bend, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
