Comment Sought On Air-Quality Permit
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is seeking public comment on a new air-quality permit for L.D. McFarland Company, a log-peeling operation in Sandpoint.
The plant is located in an area that exceeds federal standards for particulates that can cause breathing problems. The plant’s proposed permit is part of a state implementation plan for the area, officials say.
A public comment period ends Nov. 17. Copies of the permit package are available at DEQ’s Coeur d’Alene office, 2110 Ironwood Parkway, and at the East Bonner County Library in Sandpoint. Comments can also be mailed to Gary Reinbold, DEQ, 1410 N. Hilton, Boise, ID 83706; or e-mailed to www.greinbol@deq.state.id.us.
