Few American actors have matured more gracefully that Jeff Bridges, whose range is nearly as impressive as his talent. Name someone else who could play both a dope-smoking bowler (“The Big Lebowski”) and a president whose bonhomie is matched only by his ability to play political hardball (“The Contender”). The latter role just might win him his first Oscar.
