Tennessee 20, Alabama 10: Casey Clausen, a freshman making his first start for Tennessee, threw two touchdown passes to Cedrick Wilson as the Volunteers (3-3, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) beat the Crimson Tide (3-4, 3-2) in Knoxville, Tenn.

Auburn 38, Louisiana Tech 28: Rudi Johnson rushed 33 times for 249 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers (6-2) overcame a record-setting day from Bulldogs freshman QB Luke McCown for a victory in Auburn, Ala. McCown finished with a record 47 completions in 65 attempts for 433 yards and four touchdowns.

Maryland 37, Wake Forest 7: At College Park, Md., surprise starter Mukala Sikyala ran for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown as the Terrapins (3-4, 1-3 ACC) snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Demon Deacons (0-7, 0-5).

Georgia Tech 45, Duke 10: Kelly Campbell caught a 47-yard TD pass and ran 41 yards for another score as the Yellow Jackets (5-2, 3-2 ACC) won their third in a row, routing the Blue Devils (0-7, 0-4) in Atlanta.

Houston 33, Memphis 30 (3OT): At Memphis, Tenn., Jason McKinley connected with Brian Robinson on an 18-yard touchdown pass in the third overtime to give the Cougars (3-4, 2-1 Conference USA) a victory over the Tigers (4-4, 2-3).

East

Penn St. 39, Illinois 25: Rashard Casey threw two TD passes and ran for a score to lead the Nittany Lions (3-5, 2-2 Big Ten) to a victory over the Fighting Illini (4-3, 1-3) in State College, Pa.

Pittsburgh 42, Boston College 26: John Turman threw five touchdown passes - two to Antonio Bryant - and the Panthers (5-1, 2-1 Big East) beat the Eagles (4-3, 1-3) in Pittsburgh.

Army 21, Tulane 17: The Cadets (1-6, 1-4 Conference USA) snapped the nation’s longest losing streak at 10 games, beating the Green Wave (3-4, 1-3) in West Point, N.Y., on Joe Gerena’s 18-yard TD pass to Clint Dodson with 40 seconds left.

Rutgers 28, Navy 21: Mike McMahon passed for two TDs and ran for another as the Scarlet Knights (3-4) beat the Midshipmen (0-7) in Annapolis, Md.

Texas 46, Missouri 12: Hodges Mitchell ran for 151 yards and a touchdown and Major Applewhite set a school record for career TD passes as the Longhorns (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) beat the Tigers (2-5, 1-3) in Austin, Texas.

Rice 38, Hawaii 13: Corey Evans ran for two TDs and threw for another and linebacker Dan Dawson tied a school record with three interceptions as the Owls (2-5, 1-3 WAC) beat the Warriors (1-5, 1-4) in Houston to end a five-game losing streak.

Texas-El Paso 23, Fresno St. 13: Rocky Perez threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Miners (6-2, 5-0 WAC) defeated the Bulldogs (3-3, 2-1) at El Paso, Texas.

Midwest

Kansas 23, Colorado 15: At Lawrence, Kan., David Winbush had 181 yards in total offense and Joe Garcia kicked three field goals, leading the Jayhawks (4-3, 2-2 Big 12) to a win over the Buffaloes (1-6, 1-3).

Texas A&M 30, Iowa St. 7: Mark Farris passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Aggies (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) over the Cyclones (5-2, 2-2) in Ames, Iowa.

West

San Diego St. 16, Brigham Young 15: At Provo, Utah, Nate Tandberg drilled a 36-yard game-winning field goal with 5 seconds left to lift the Aztecs (2-5, 2-1 Mountain West Conference) over the Cougars (3-5, 1-2).

New Mexico 29, Air Force 23: Rudy Caamano threw for 170 yards and a TD and Holmon Wiggins ran for 99 yards and another score as the visiting Lobos (4-4, 2-1 MWC) beat the Falcons (5-2, 3-2).

San Jose St. 49, Nevada 30: Jamar Julien tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns and Deonce Whitaker ran for 167 yards and two scores as the Spartans (5-3, 3-1 WAC) beat the Wolf Pack (1-6, 0-3) in Reno, Nev.

Colorado St. 24, Utah 17: Matt Newton threw two long touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Rams (6-1, 3-0 MWC) rallied to beat the Utes (2-5, 1-2) in Salt Lake City.

UNLV 43, Wyoming 23: Jason Thomas ran for one TD and passed for another as the Rebels (4-3, 2-1 MWC) beat the Cowboys (1-7, 0-4) in Las Vegas.
