Cougars Fall To Usc
Jessica Edwards scored a pair of goals, the second one in overtime, to lift No. 10 Southern Cal (11-3-2, 3-1-1) to a 2-1 Pacific-10 Conference victory over Washington State (10-6, 2-4) in Pullman on Sunday.
The Cougars lost Deka DeWitt, Katrina Stroh and Natalie Kehl, their top three scorers, to ankle injuries.
Rachel Rodrick’s goal for WSU at 69:55 tied the score at 1-1.
Idaho had just one shot on goal but the Vandals (9-6-2, 3-2-2) still managed to forge a 0-0 Big West Conference double overtime tie with Long Beach State (6-7-2, 3-2-1) in Long Beach, Calif.
Jenell Miller made five saves in goal for the Vandals.
Brooke Pitner found the back of the net with just over 1 minute left in the second overtime to give George Fox (12-4, 10-2) a 2-1 victory over Whitworth (5-9-2, 3-8-1) in Northwest Conference action in Spokane. Piper Moore scored a goal for the Pirates.
Trina Hodo scored a pair of goals and Katie Peters added a goal and two assists to propel Edmonds (11-1-1) to a 3-0 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges victory over Community Colleges of Spokane (4-8-1).
Cal State Northridge beat visiting Eastern Washington 5-1 in Big Sky Conference action. No other details were available.
Men’s soccer
Second-ranked Stanford (13-1-1, 4-1) avenged its only loss of the season by posting a 2-0 win over fourth-ranked Washington (9-4, 4-1) in a Pac-10 Conference match in Seattle.
The Huskies, who beat the Cardinal on Oct. 6, suffered their first conference loss of the season and ended a six-game winning streak.
Brian Hein scored four goals, three in the first half, to spark Whitworth (10-4-2, 6-3-2) to a 4-0 win over visiting George Fox (7-8-1, 3-7-1) in NWC play.
Ryan Hopp and Jay Kendall each found the net and Edmonds (13-0) remained unbeaten in NWAACC play with a 2-1 victory over the Community Colleges of Spokane (9-2-2) in Edmonds.
Eric Johnson scored the lone goal for CCS.

Jason Beeman completed a hat trick with 7 minutes remaining to help the Spokane Braves earn a 6-6 tie with the host Columbia Valley Rockies in a KIJHL game.
