Hornets Overcome Ewu
Lisa Wrightsman and Lori Kerswell each scored twice to lead Sacramento State (4-0-1) to a 4-3 Big Sky Conference win over visiting Eastern Washington University in women’s soccer.
Wrightsman has six goals this season while Kerswell, who assisted Wrightsman’s first goal, has five goals. The Hornets trailed 2-1 early in the second half before scoring three consecutive goals.
Kyra Hamilton scored twice for the Eagles (1-4, 1-1).
North Idaho College and the Gonzaga junior varsity played to a scoreless tie. NIC (0-0-1) had two shots hit the crossbar.
Girls soccer
Sarah Bot scored in the second overtime off a pass from Dana Brown and Lewis and Clark edged Shadle Park 2-1 in a non-league match at Hart Field. LC nearly won the match late in regulation but had the goal disallowed on a ruling that the ball had gone out of bounds… . In other non-league matches, Tara Grigsby set up the first goal and scored the second as visiting University beat Ferris 2-0… . Alissa Riccelli and Holly Ready had two goals and one assist apiece during Mead’s 8-0 home win over North Central… . Jessie Torres’ shot from 18 yards out hit the top left post and deflected into the net at 65 minutes, giving Central Valley a 1-0 win over visiting East Valley.
Volleyball
Crystal Cavanaugh totaled match highs of 11 digs, eight kills and three blocks to lead Mt. Spokane to a 3-1 non-league win over visiting Central Valley. Holly Coleman served the final six points of the match.
