Post Falls Subdivision Plan Tabled
Planning and Zoning commissioners voted to table a proposal for a planned unit development and 174-lot subdivision called Prairie Meadows Tuesday night.
The 137-acre area is at Prairie Avenue and McGuire Road, near the Montrose and Meadows developments.
Commissioners had a long list of questions about the proposed development, including a planned park’s size and road widths, planning director Gary Young said.
The commission will take up the proposal at its Oct. 10 meeting.
Applicant Joe Dobson said lots would be about 23,000 square feet - about 3/4 acre - filling a niche for prospective residents in search of larger lots. If approved, house prices would begin at $120,000.
A proposed 14-acre park within the development would be dedicated to the Beck family, who once owned the area. The public area might include soccer and baseball fields, Dobson said.
“We have a lot of confidence in the project itself,” Dobson said. “It fits a different niche in the market because of the size of the lots.”
Dobson, who is also a land and rural property manager for Coldwell Banker-Schneidmiller Realty, said a builder hasn’t been selected yet.
Commissioners weren’t “opposed to the concept or the overall design, but had a lot of questions they wanted answered,” Young said.
Dobson said he’d like to see construction on the development begin next spring.
