Dolan Sets Record
Another night, two more world records, led by pumped-up American Tom Dolan.
Dolan broke his own 6-year-old world record in the 400-meter individual medley, winning his second consecutive Olympic gold in the event. He punched the air and water and motioned to the crowd to cheer more after he clipped more than a half-second off his mark with a 4:11.76.
Dolan’s mark was the eighth world record in two days of swimming at the Sydney International Aquatic Center.
Inge de Bruijn of the Netherlands set a record in the 100 fly at 56.61.
