New Fire Stations Sparking Excitement
Construction that began last week on two new fire stations is going well, with a completion date scheduled for February, Fire Chief Lynn Borders said.
Voters narrowly passed the $2million bond levy in May. Coeur d’Alene-based General Construction is building both stations.
Fire officials are getting excited about the additional stations, Borders said.
“It’s a big step in the right direction with infrastructure,” he said. “We definitely need it.”
The new stations, one at 16th Avenue and state Highway 41, the other at Pleasant View Road and Seltice Way, will include community rooms for public use.
Residents will be able to see the two stations’ architectural drawings on Sept. 30, when fire officials host an open house at 404 N. Idaho St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food, games, a bike rodeo and special guests are planned for the event.
