Snowmobile Bridge Takes Shape

From Staff Reports

Two 140-foot beams were set across Priest River Tuesday morning to provide a bridge for snowmobiles and other trail users in the Priest Lake area.

The beams, 80 tons each, are part of a $400,000 bridge that’s been five years in the making, said Gene Nett, a member of the Priest Lake Groomers Association. Nett has written several grant proposals trying to raise the money for the bridge. Local chambers of commerce and user groups also contributed.

The bridge is expected to be complete in mid-October and ready for snowmobiles when the snow hits. The bridge, at Dickensheet Campground just south of Priest Lake, is the link that was needed to connect trails on either side of the lake.
