NEW FACES
Matthew Young has recently been hired at the Davenport Hotel as executive chef at the Palm Court Restaurant. Young has worked at Spago in Beverly Hills, Calif., and at several restaurants in Portland.
Paul Brandenburger has recently been hired at Anderson Mraz Design as associate creative director. He has 17 years of experience in the advertising field and was previously the creative director at WhiteRunkle.
Anderson Mraz Design has recently hired Danielle Foltz as a designer. Foltz is a 2001 graduate of the University of Washington and was previously an art director and designer for WhiteRunkle.
Dr. Chris Moon has recently joined the staff at Lakeside Pediatrics in Coeur d’Alene. Moon is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and served for two years as a naval physician on the USS Ogden in San Diego. He was previously a general pediatrician in Boise.
Holy Family Hospital has recently hired Norman McLarin as director of facilities and engineering. He is a graduate of the University of Portland and was previously with Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and Sacred Heart Medical Center in the clinical engineering departments.
Londa Vaughn has recently been hired at the Essential Woman Boutique as manager. Vaughn is a certified mastectomy fitter and has many years of retail management and buyer experience.
The Waterford has recently hired Cheryl Johnson as a sales executive. Johnson was previously an account executive with Group Health Cooperative.
PROMOTED
Glenda Ripley of Sterling Savings Bank has recently been promoted to vice president. Ripley has been with the bank since June 1993 and has most recently worked as a loan support manager and assistant vice president.
Sterling Savings Bank has recently promoted Robin Wirick to assistant vice president. Wirick has been with the bank since 1986 and most recently worked as a deposit operations manager. She also volunteers at the Women and Children’s Free Restaurant.
Vanessa Barsda of Sterling Savings Bank has recently been promoted to assistant vice president. Barsda has been at the bank since June 2003 and has worked as an ATM/card services manager.
Sterling Savings Bank has recently promoted Carol Marsengill to vice president. Marsengill has been with the bank since 1997 and has worked as a dealer account officer and a dealer account manager and has been involved in the dealer banking industry for 26 years.
ELECTED/APPOINTED
The board of trustees for the Washington Business and Chamber of Commerce Insurance Trust has recently elected Eldonna Gossett as its chairman. Gossett is the president and chief executive officer of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and is the only representative from Eastern Washington on this board.
Colleen Stevens of New York Life Insurance Co. in Spokane has recently been elected the 2004-2005 president of the Spokane Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Stevens has been with New York Life for 13 years. Other chapter officers are Gary Borders, vice president; G. Scott Noble, treasurer; Richard J. Tiffany, Wes Teterud, David G. Reighley, and David M. Knecht as directors.
The Washington State University Puyallup Research and Extension Center has recently appointed Jon Newkirk as its director. He has served as director of the WSU Western Center for Risk Management Education since 2001, has been a faculty member of the WSU Extension for 14 years and has been chair of the Spokane County Extension office.
KUDOS
Dr. R. Richard Ryan Jr. of Spokane has recently been presented with the Optometric Physicians of Washington’s 2004 O.D. of the Year Award. The group also presented Dr. Walt Michaelis of Spokane with its Wallgren Memorial Award.

Washington Mutual Bank has recently granted $12,500 to the Spokane HomeOwnership Resource Center. The funds will go to general operating support. The bank is also a sponsor of the center’s Home Buyer’s Fair.
