Students earn EWU scholarships

The Spokesman-Review

Area students recently received scholarships for the 2004-05 academic year at Eastern Washington University.

Students and their awards are listed.

Emily Koepl, Post Falls, earned a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship awarded to incoming freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding academic merit in high school. She is a 2004 graduate of Post Falls High School and the daughter of Lori and Steve Koepl of Post Falls. Koepl plans to major in chemical forensics.

Donald Cypher, Spirit Lake, received an $800 Steven Jones Memorial Scholarship given to outstanding accounting or management information systems majors. He graduated from Timberlake High School in 2000 and is the son of Sherry Sweet and Art Cypher. He is a senior majoring in general management, management information systems and finance. At EWU he has been involved in Beta Alpha Psi and the Investment Club.

Holli Graham, Rathdrum, and Hilary Wolf, Coeur d’Alene, each received $1,000 Alumni Scholarships funded by the EWU Association to benefit the children or grandchildren of EWU alumni and outstanding new freshman, transfers and graduate students.

Graham graduated from Lakeland High School in 2003 and is the daughter of Bonnie and Dave Graham of Rathdrum. She is a sophomore nursing major.

Wolf graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1999 and is the daughter of Gail Rogers of Coeur d’Alene, and Mike Wolf of Carmel, Ind.

Chris Person and Sarah Johnston, spring graduates of Priest River-Lamanna High School, were named to receive the Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award. The awards are given annually at high schools across the nation to honor the top male and female scholars and athletes.
