Astros 9, Phillies 8: At Philadelphia, Carlos Beltran’s two-run double in the eighth inning helped Houston beat Philadelphia.

Expos 6-4, Giants 2-14: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds homered for the third time in two days to help lead San Francisco over Montreal in the second game of a doubleheader. The Giants had their six-game winning streak snapped in the opener when Jose Vidro hit his 100th career homer and Rocky Biddle (4-6) earned a victory.

Reds 5, Cardinals 4: At St. Louis, rookie Josh Hancock won for the first time as a starter and Sean Casey drove in three runs to help Cincinnati defeat St. Louis and avoid a three-game sweep.

Cubs 7, Brewers 5 (11): At Milwaukee, Corey Patterson hit a two-run homer in the 11th to lead Chicago to a victory over Milwaukee. Nomar Garciaparra hit three doubles and Derrek Lee also homered and drove in two runs for the Cubs.

Diamondbacks 6, Pirates 3: At Phoenix, Shea Hillenbrand’s three-run homer capped a five-run fifth and sent Arizona to a victory over Pittsburgh.

Braves 6, Padres 5: At San Diego, Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer off Trevor Hoffman in the ninth and Atlanta threw out the potential tying run at the plate for the final out, preserving a come-from-behind win over San Diego.

Marlins 6, Dodgers 4: At Los Angeles, pinch-hitter Lenny Harris delivered a three-run double off Eric Gagne with two outs in the ninth, rallying Florida past Los Angeles.

Mets at Rockies (ppd.): At Denver, heavy rains washed out the game between New York and Colorado before it started. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
