EWU coach has 1st commitment
The Mike Burns era at Eastern Washington University is definitely under way with the first-year men’s basketball coach receiving his first prep commitment.
Brandon Moore, a 6-foot-8 power player for Bethel High School in Spanaway, Wash., said he would attend EWU next year.
“It’s a perfect fit for me,” said Moore. “It’s a good school and a great coaching staff.”
Moore also had offers from Boise State, Portland, UC Santa Barbara and Nebraska but chose to make the early commitment to Eastern, although he can’t officially sign a letter of intent until November.
Moore was one of a quartet of 6-8 players in Bethel’s balanced attack, playing center and power forward. He was the Braves’ second-leading scorer, averaging 10.8 points a game for 28-2 Bethel.
“I think I’ll play more of a forward in college but I can get in there and bang with the big guys,” he said. “I’ll do what I can.”
