Blue Devils’ backcourt stellar in victory

Duke’s backcourt duo of J.J. Redick and Daniel Ewing each scored 29 points and made five 3-pointers, helping the 10th-ranked Blue Devils hold off the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans 81-74 on Tuesday night in Durham, N.C., in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Redick had 21 points in the first half, and Ewing took up the slack after the break, scoring 15. Duke (4-0) improved to 6-0 in the made-for-TV challenge and beat the Spartans (3-1) for the second straight season.

(4) Georgia Tech 99, Michigan 68: The Yellow Jackets (4-0) took control with a 20-0 run, led by 27 points at halftime and went on to rout the Wolverines (3-3) in Atlanta in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. B.J. Elder scored 27 points for Georgia Tech.

(7) Connecticut 99, Florida International 48: At Storrs, Conn., Rashad Anderson scored 17 points and Hilton Armstrong had a career-high five blocked shots as the Huskies (2-0) cruised to a win over the Golden Panthers (3-2).

(8) Kentucky 92, Tennessee Tech 63: Kelenna Azubuike emerged from a season-long shooting slump, scoring 21 points and the Wildcats (4-0) beat the Golden Eagles (1-3) in Lexington, Ky.

(25) Wisconsin 69, (12) Maryland 64: Alando Tucker scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Badgers (3-1) to a win over the Terrapins (3-1) in Madison, Wis.

(19) Florida 88, Florida A&M 51: Mohamed Abukar scored a career-high 22 points and the Gators (4-0) routed the Rattlers (0-4) in Gainesville, Fla.

(21) Arizona 98, Wyoming 70: Salim Stoudamire and Jawaan McClellan each scored 19 points and the Wildcats (4-2) pulled away in the second half to rout the Cowboys (3-1) in Tucson, Ariz.

(23) Iowa 91, Drake 75: Jeff Horner and Adam Haluksa each scored 21 points and Horner added eight rebounds and six assists, leading the Hawkeyes (4-1) past the Bulldogs (1-2) in Des Moines, Iowa.

La Salle 71, Southern California 62: Steven Smith tied a career high with 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Explorers (1-2) past the Trojans (1-2) in Philadelphia.

Arizona State 65, Temple 62: Ike Diogu scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Sun Devils (4-1) over the Owls (1-3) in Philadelphia.

UCLA 75, Long Beach State 62: Dijon Thompson scored 25 points to guide the Bruins (4-0) past the visiting 49ers (1-3).
