Vandals assistant gets jail time, fine for brandishing handgun

Associated Press

MOSCOW, Idaho — An assistant University of Idaho football coach will spend four days in jail and pay a $325 fine for brandishing a handgun in the parking lot of a Moscow nightclub in August.

Alundis Brice, 33, who originally was charged with exhibition of a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor, agreed to plead guilty to maliciously disturbing the peace, according to Latah County court documents.

Brice will be sentenced Jan. 5 by Magistrate William Hamlett. According to police reports, on the night of Aug. 15, a group of UI students approached Brice and his BMW automobile in the parking lot of a Main Street bar.

Brice told police that one of the students reached into his car and said they were going to steal the vehicle. Brice said he then reached under the seat of his car and pulled out his Mississippi-registered 9mm handgun.

UI athletic director Rob Spear has said Brice may face additional university-sanctioned disciplinary measures.
