Lakeland’s torrid shooting soaks Lakeside
The Hawks had the hot hands on Tuesday.
Lakeland shot 58 percent from the floor to topple host Lakeside 68-58 in non-league boys basketball at Nine Mile Falls.
Ryan Gallia shot 5 of 7 from 3-point range and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line to finish with 26 points and lift the Hawks (4-4).
Alex Stillar scored 17 points and Garrett Perkins added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles (4-3).

Kylee Williamson drilled a buzzer-beater from 3-point range off an in-bounds play to lift East Valley to a 45-42 non-league win over visiting Lake City. Kelsey Hentges had 12 points, and Eleaya Schuerch added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Knights (4-3). The visiting Timberwolves (8-4) got 10 points each from Kristi Tuntland and Renee Bordelon.

The Grizzlies showed no signs of pending hibernation. Newport (5-2) scored 40 first-half points to build a 13-point lead on visiting West Valley, posting a 71-59 non-league win.
Maria Barranco posted 36 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies.
Tekoa-Oakesdale 55, Colfax 48: Casey Smith had 21 points and Mallory Puckett tossed in 18 points as the Nighthawks (4-2) turned away visiting Colfax. Angie Dennison posted 21 for Colfax (4-3).
