From the Good Timing Department: Idaho shares the worst overall record in the Big West (2-8), but the Vandals are tied for the conference lead at 1-0 thanks to their upset win over Utah State. … Long Beach State (2-8) will be without leading scorer and rebounder Anthony Coleman for the rest of the season. The 6-foot-11 center is scheduled for leg surgery. … Cal Poly’s Kameron Gray is academically ineligible and out for the season. Gray was Cal Poly’s third-leading scorer last year behind Varnie Dennis and Shane Schilling, both of whom are playing professionally overseas. … Preseason favorite Pacific got 55 points and 26 rebounds from interior players Christian Maraker, Tyler Newton, Guillaume Yango and Matt Kemper in a win over Fresno State last week. … UC Irvine (6-2) has won five straight. Guard Aaron Fitzgerald, who sat the 2002-03 season at Washington State, is averaging 15.6 points and 5.3 assists. … CBSsportsline.com ranks players by position. Idaho’s Dandrick Jones is No. 41 among 1,085 guards. … Pacific is No. 19 in CollegeRPI.com, UC Irvine 101 and Utah State 188. Idaho is 303.
