VanSickle tosses no-hitter
Casey VanSickle fired a no-hitter to lead the Bandits to a 6-0 victory Friday over Great Falls in the Senior American Legion Fourth of July tournament taking place at Rogers High School and Shadle Park High School’s Al K. Jackson Field.
In the first game of the day at Rogers, VanSickle struck out 14 of the 21 batters he faced. He fanned the side in the second and fifth innings.
In other games at Rogers, the Northstars nipped Budd Bay 5-4, Idaho Falls and Great Falls played to a 3-3 nine-inning tie, Isaquah beat Idaho Falls 8-6 and Budd Bay blanked Isaquah 7-0.
In games at Al K. Jackson Field, South Kitsap tripped El Segundo 9-7, Kalispell edged the Cannons 4-3, South Kitsap shut out Puyallup 2-0 and Kalispell topped Puyallup 5-3.
The tournament continues throughout the weekend.
RiverHawks lose
Brandon Harmon tossed three shutout innings in relief and the Wenatchee Applesox rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Spokane RiverHawks in Pacific International play at Spokane Falls Community College.
Ryan Stevenson had three hits and three RBIs to lead Spokane.
Kyle Wright struck out the side in the ninth inning to pick up the save for Wenatchee.
