Eastern signs Gonnella

Former Mead High School standout Leah Gonnella has signed a letter of intent to attend Eastern Washington University and play for the Eagles’ women’s basketball team.

Gonnella, who played for the University of Toledo the past two seasons, will redshirt next season. She averaged 4.2 points per game as a sophomore at Toledo.

Gonnella was a three-time All-Greater Spokane League honoree and led the GSL in scoring with a 17.8 per game average during her senior season.

Golf

Ferris High grad Alex Prugh, now playing for the University of Washington, received honorable mention to the PING All-America team. Prugh finished 28th at the NCAA national tournament. Huskies All-American Brock Mackenzie placed sixth at a U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying tournament at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J., and earned a spot in this year’s U.S. Open. Alex Prugh missed out when he lost a one-hole playoff at a Sectional in Bend, Ore.
