21st annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace – Participants will meet at the Oroville (Wash.) Library on Sunday at noon and will walk to the Canadian Border to join Canadians in a celebration that includes poems, messages of peace and songs led by members of ethnic Russian Doukhobor farming communities of Canada. Vehicles will accompany walkers and offer water and rides. Individuals may also drive to Oroville/Osoyoos border, celebration begins at 2 p.m. A luncheon hosted by the Doukhobors will follow at the Elks Lodge, Osoyoos, B.C. for $6.
