Idaho golf qualifiers will begin play next Monday

State-qualifying high school golf tournaments will be held next week.

Here’s how teams and individuals can earn state berths:

• The 4A Region I tourney will be held Monday at Prairie Falls Golf Club in Post Falls.

Boys and girls from Post Falls, Sandpoint and Moscow will vie for one team berth and three individual berths. The first tee times are at 11 a.m.

Other boys teams can qualify for state by shooting 315 or better while other girls teams can qualify by shooting 405 or better.

State will be held May 17-18 at Hidden Lakes Country Club near Sandpoint. If they don’t qualify by winning the meet or shooting a qualifying score, Sandpoint’s boys and girls will make state via a host berth.

• The 3A District I tourney will be held Monday at Stoneridge Golf Course in Blanchard. The first tee times are at 8 a.m.

The top two boys and girls teams qualify for state. The top six boys and top four girls (one representing each full team entered) qualify for state.

Other boys teams can qualify for state by shooting 325 or better while other girls teams can qualify by shooting 425 or better.

State will be held May 17-18 at Stoneridge. If Priest River’s boys team doesn’t finish in the top two or shoot a qualifying score, it will play at state by virtue of a host berth. Priest River doesn’t field a complete girls team, but will send its individuals to state.

• The 2A District I-II tourney will be held Tuesday at Hidden Lakes Country Club.

The top two boys teams qualify for state, but no girls teams can qualify since none of the 2A teams have enough players to field complete teams. The top four boys earn state berths while the girls medalist earns a state berth.

Other boys teams can qualify for state by shooting 325 or better.

State is May 17-18 at Orofino.

• The 5A Region I tourney will be held Wednesday at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club.

Boys and girls from Coeur d’Alene, Lake City and Lewiston will vie for one team berth and three individual berths. The first tee times are at 10 a.m.

Other boys teams can qualify for state by shooting 315 or better while other girls teams can qualify by shooting 405 or better.

State will be held May 17-18 at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club. If they don’t qualify by winning the meet or shooting a qualifying score, Lake City’s boys and girls teams will play at state by virtue of host berths.
