Colgate Country Showdown – The deadline to enter is today for this event to be held at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Thursday at 7 p.m. Aspiring country singers and musicians are invited to compete in this talent contest. Coeur d’Alene Ballroom Spectacular – Today-Sunday at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The three day competition also includes many dance workshops including instruction in Foxtrot, Waltz, Eastcoast Swing, Cha-Cha and more. Single sessions are $15, all sessions are $90. 2003 U.S. Classic Showdance champions Nicholas Kosovich and Lena Bakhtcheva will appear. Dance Till you Drop – Today at the Post Falls High School, 2832 E. Poleline Ave, 6-9 p.m.,with music by Dance Street Productions. This event is sponsored by the Riverbend Professional-Technical Academy; $5 tickets. Proceeds benefit local Health Occupation Students of America. Evidence of the Afterlife Show – 7 p.m., with psychic intuitive Bonnie Whiting who will perform crossing-over style readings on audience members, at the Days Inn Hotel, 2200 Northwest Blvd.; $10 at the door.

“The Cowboy Poets” – The Post Falls Senior Center hosts this event with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Information: 773-9582. The center is located at 1205 E. Third St.

“The Barbarian Invasions” – Winner of the best foreign film Oscar, will be screened today and Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., at the Panida Theater, Sandpoint; $6 adults, $5 seniors and students under 18. Information: 263-9191.

Moscow Arts Commission summer band Area musicians are invited to join the band which will be under the direction of Gary Gemberling. The first rehearsal will be June 1, 7 p.m., in Room 216 at the Lionel Hampton Music Building. No auditions required. Information: 883-7036.
