NEW FACES

Hanna & Associates, a regional advertising and public relations office, has recently hired Kathy Pilney as a copywriter. Pilney is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Brainco, the Minneapolis School of Advertising, and is a former freelance writer.

Jeff Densley has recently been hired by Hanna & Associates as a production artist. Densley was previously a lead production artist with WhiteRunkle and is also the first sergeant of the 604th Medical Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base.

Hanna & Associates has recently hired Contessa Morton as administrative/executive assistant. Morton has an extensive background in advertising, finance and customer relations.

Scott Slusser has recently been hired by Harmon Glass. Slusser returns to the company after a five year absence.

The Spokane Guilds’ School & Neuromuscular Center has recently hired Roberta “Bobbie” League as a planned giving officer. League has been on the school’s board of directors since 1995 and has served as director of certification at Gonzaga University’s School of Education. She has also owned and operated Mother’s Cupboard Nutrition.

Pam Novell has recently been hired as a sales associate at the Manito office of Windermere Real Estate. Novell was previously a manager at the Gap and is new to real estate.

PROMOTED

Hanna & Associates has recently promoted Jeff Sutherland to the position of art director. Sutherland was previously a graphic designer and has seven years of advertising experience.

Willow Boyd has recently been promoted to the position of production and media assistant by Hanna & Associates. Boyd was previously an administrative assistant.

Inland Northwest Bank has recently promoted Duane Henderson to assistant vice president. Henderson has been with the bank since 2000 as manager of the Coeur d’Alene branch.

Robyn Lewis has recently been promoted to the position of branch manager at the downtown branch of Spokane Teachers Credit Union. Lewis was previously the assistant manager of the Valley branch and has been with the credit union since 1993. Before her arrival, she had over 19 years of commercial banking experience. She is a graduate of Marylhurst College.

The Inland Northwest Tourism Awards were announced in a recent ceremony at the Doubletree Hotel. The winners and their categories are: the housekeeping staff at the Best Western Pheasant Hill received the White Glove Award; Yong Yudt of Holiday Inn Express Spokane Valley received the Silver Spoon Award; Betty Faletto of Hidden Lakes Golf Resort received the First Impression Award, Hotel; Connie Wagner of Quality Inn Valley Suites won the First Impression Award, Sales; Avis Rent-A-Car received the First Impression Award, Transportation; Sandy Kates of LCD Exposition Services received the Hospitality Volunteer of the Year Award; Lisa Bracco of Spokane County Fair & Expo Center received the Rising Star Award; Montana Rockies Rail Tours received the On the Move Award; Toby Steward and Barb Beddor of Star USA 2007 U.S. Figure Skating Championships received the Festivals & Events Award; Spokane County Fair & Expo received the Attraction Award; Manito Park received the Near Nature Near Perfect Award; Harry Sladich of Sterling Hospitality received the Tourism Professional of the Year Award; The Lodge on Hidden Lakes in Sandpoint received the Top Table Award; River Park Square received the In the Bag Award; and Luke Williams received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Babette Hess, a nursing instructor at North Idaho College, has recently earned the NIC Foundation Faculty Achievement Award. Hess has been with the college for 17 years and holds a master’s degree from Washington State University.

Homescapes of Spokane has recently earned Premier Dealer designation from Beam Industries for becoming one of the country’s top central-vacuum system installing dealers. Homescapes has been selling and installing central-vacuum systems in the area for 22 years.

Marcial Laude, HVAC Technician Lead for Avista Corp., has recently earned Building Operator Certification, Level II from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council.

Denny Bunkers has recently received the Excellence in Education Award from the National Institute of Pension Administrators at their recent conference in Las Vegas. Bunkers received this award for his volunteer work with the group since 1991.

ELECTED/APPOINTED

Don Kopczynski has recently been elected as vice president of the board of directors of Avista Corp. Kopczynski has been with the company for 25 years and has been the general manager of energy delivery for Avista Utilities.

Alan Curryer has recently been appointed president and CEO of Rockwood Retirement Communities. Curryer has been with Rockwood for more than 13 years and has served as the company’s CFO/vice president of finance.

NEW BUSINESS

Certified travel counselor, Dani Zibell has recently opened her own travel agency, Z-Travel. The agency will specialize in vacation travel and groups, both domestic and international.
