Indians 8, Athletics 6: At Cleveland, Jody Gerut singled home Matt Lawton with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Cleveland rallied from a 6-2, fifth-inning deficit and defeated Oakland.

Orioles 8, Tigers 4: At Detroit, Miguel Tejada homered for the third straight game and Larry Bigbie drove in three runs to lead Baltimore past Detroit.

Yankees 5, Devil Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Kevin Brown (6-1) allowed three hits in 72/3 innings, taking a shutout into the eighth and improving to 4-0 this season against Tampa Bay, and Bernie Williams, Ruben Sierra and Enrique Wilson homered in New York’s victory.

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 2: At Toronto, Miguel Batista (2-3) struck out a season-high seven in eight innings, allowing two runs and five hits as Toronto won its fifth straight by defeating Texas.

Angels 5, White Sox 1: At Chicago, Aaron Sele (4-0) allowed four hits in 61/3 innings as Anaheim stopped a four-game losing streak in its win over Chicago.

Royals 5, Twins 2: At Kansas City, Mo., Dennys Reyes (1-0) won his first decision in 27 appearances. the Royals rallied in the seventh when Matt Stairs tied the score with a solo homer and Carlos Beltran hit a three-run double off Johan Santana (2-3) to beat Minnesota.
