Wilfred ‘Bud’ Seaman

Tekoa, Wash.

No service will be held for Wilfred Vernon “Bud” Seaman, 83, at his request. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Seaman died Tuesday. He was born near Colfax and moved with his family to Tekoa where his parents farmed. He completed elementary school and high school in Tekoa.

In 1941, after high school, he enlisted in the Army. During World War II he was called back to the Army Air Corps and studied aeronautical electronics. He served at Wold Air Force Base in Minneapolis for two years, with Nordan bomb sights, and later in Spokane.

In 1943 he married Jane Kries, and the family settled in Spokane, where Mr. Seaman worked with the Underwood Corp. The couple later divorced.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Seaman went to Alaska, where he worked as an office machine mechanic and typewriter repairman. He returned to the Tekoa area in 1966 and worked part-time for Fletcher Farms and Tekoa Grange Supply.

He married Barbara Kile Smith in 1983 in Coeur d’Alene, and moved to Tekoa in 1990.

His hobbies included drawing, oil painting and gun-stock carving.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Carol Daly and Michael Snow, both of Salt Lake City; two stepsons, Donald and Kenneth Smith, both of Spokane; three stepdaughters, Lucille Wood of Nampa, Idaho, Edythe Carroll of Kirkland, Wash., and Julie Paulus of Spokane; three brothers, Ray, Robert and Stanley Seeman; a sister, Shirley Seeman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Whitman Hospice or the United Church of Tekoa.

Lylas Blair

Coeur d’Alene

Funeral for Lylas Nadene Robertson Blair, 75, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blair, who was born in The Dalles, Ore., died Monday. She was a former longtime resident of Elk.

She grew up on the family farm in The Dalles. She attended high school there, was a drum majorette for the Booster Girls Club and participated in athletics. She also worked in the movie theater and did some modeling locally.

After graduating from high school in 1948, she attended Yakima Valley College. There she met Dale Blair, and the couple married in 1950, in The Dalles.

They moved to Pullman where they attended Washington State College. They later moved to Spokane, and in 1968 moved to a farm near Elk.

Mrs. Blair was involved in the community and was a 4-H leader. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and making bread.

As an artist, Mrs. Blair did oil painting leather tooling, pottery and crafts.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and played the piano and sang in the church choir.

Following a disabling stroke and her husband’s death, Mrs. Blair became a resident at the BeeHive Homes in Coeur dAlene.

Survivors include five children, Duane Blair of Elk, Janna Blair of Cheney, Karel Kent of Coeur d’Alene, Kim Dilley of Pasco and Gail Ferrell of Colbert; two brothers, Jack and Richard Robertson, both of The Dalles; and numerous grandchildren.

Jack Davis

Rathdrum, Idaho

Viewing for Jack N. Davis, 88, will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, with graveside service at 1 p.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Davis, who was born in Kellogg, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Garfield, Wash., and graduated from high school there in 1934. Also that year he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Donery. They were divorced in 1946.

He married Norma Estes Schmidt in 1948.

Mr. Davis operated several small businesses in Garfield, Cheney and Pullman. He later moved to Walla Walla and sold insurance before becoming a farmer in Prescott, Wash.

He retired from farming in 1970 and moved to Rockford Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

His second marriage ended in 1972.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene and married Marion Branvold McCollum. They settled in Rathdrum. His wife died in April.

They had owned the 1883 historic Hart House since 1975.

He was involved in the Rathdrum community, City Council and Planning Department.

He was a past member of the Jaycees, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and a founding director of Preferred Life Insurance Co. of Seattle.

Survivors include three children, Joan Tyus of Spokane, Jack Davis of Whidbey Island, Wash., and Carol Anderson of South Beach, Ore.; two stepchildren, 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

William Tillotson

Sandpoint

Service for William Edward Tillotson, 79, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mr. Tillotson, who was born in Lemhi, Idaho, died Saturday.

He grew up on a ranch on the Lemhi Bar and attended school in Lemhi. He also rode miles on horseback to fish the mountain streams of the foothills.

Mr. Tillotson moved to Sandpoint with his family in 1937 and the area became his primary residence for the next 67 years.

As a teenager during World War II he worked in the Portland ship yards.

He married Rosanna Lee in 1948.

He worked as a logger for Pack River Lumber Co., as a commercial fisherman on Lake Pend Oreille and also made a living hunting wild game and picking huckleberries.

He married Evelyn Ulrich in 1960. She died in 1986.

He married Naida Miller in 1988. They later divorced.

Mr. Tillotson enjoyed gardening, animals, the outdoors, and his church family.

Survivors include two sons, Steve of Missoula and Ken of Yakima; three grandchildren; and his former wife, Naida.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Anna O’Brien

Springfield, Mo.

Service for Anna Andrews O’Brien, 94, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Fairmount Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. O’Brien, a former 70-year Spokane resident, died Monday in Springfield, her home for seven years.

She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She had lived in California, where she married John O’Brien. The couple later moved to Spokane.

Mrs. O’Brien competed in swimming at the national level. She was a homemaker and a poodle groomer. She enjoyed growing orchids and fishing.

Her husband died in 1984.

Survivors include a son, Rick O’Brien; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Elma (Land) Heuett

Rathdrum, Idaho

Visitation for Elma V. (Land) Heuett, 83, will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rathdrum with a potluck reception at the Rathdrum Lions Club.

Mrs. Heuett, who was born in Juanita, Neb., died Saturday.

She received her education in Juanita and later moved to Colorado and various other places with her family.

She settled in Rathdrum in 1952 and married Bob Heuett on Christmas day 1965.

Mrs. Heuett enjoyed horses, hunting, camping, fishing and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Norman Heitstuman of Rathdrum, John Heitstuman of Reno, Nev., and Bret Heitstuman of Soldotna, Alaska; a stepson, Larry Heuett of Rathdrum; two stepdaughters, Linda Spencer of Seattle and Sandra Toy of Post Falls; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Violetta Goodfellow

Spokane

Inurnment for Violetta Elda (Koebernick) Goodfellow, 95, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, with memorial service at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Goodfellow, who was born in Dogden (now Butte), N.D., died Tuesday.

In 1927 she graduated from high school in Bismarck, N.D., and in 1929 graduated from Norman Teachers College in Minot, N.D. She taught in rural schools for four years and worked six years at the Bank of North Dakota in Bismarck.

She married Edward Goodfellow in Sidney, Mont., in 1942. The couple moved to Parkers Prairie, Minn., where they farmed for 13 years and were members of Zion Lutheran Church. Mrs. Goodfellow was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and organized Sunday school for the church.

The couple moved to Minot, N.D., where they resided for 38 years. They moved to Spokane 11 years ago.

Her husband died in January.

Survivors include two sons, Kendall Goodfellow of Spokane and William Goodfellow of Chicago; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Absalom Davies

Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Absalom Davies, 88, will be Oct. 23 at Heritage Church in Odessa, Wash. Private burial will precede the service.

Mrs. Davies, who was born in Carbonado, Wash., died Sunday.

He graduated from high school in Issaquah, Wash.,

Mr. Davies worked for Shell Oil Co. in Spokane, was a vocational instructor at McNeil Island Correctional Facility, owned the Sky Ranch flight school and restaurant in Issaquah and was an aerial applicator in Odessa and Eastern Washington.

He and his wife, Marjorie moved to Odessa where they lived for 51 years. They recently moved to Coeur d’Alene to be near family.

Mr. Davies enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, especially trips to Mexico and fishing on the Campbell River in Canada.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years; two daughters, Peggy Salo of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Kathy Beals of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Daniel Davies of Bothell, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Phoebe ‘Babe’ Sanders

Spokane

Private memorial service for Phoebe Julia Ashley “Babe” Sanders, 86, will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evergreen Ward at a later date. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sanders, who was born in Emmett, Idaho, died Monday.

She spent her childhood in Emmett, and in 1934 married Keith Sanders there.

She was a longtime resident of Spokane Valley, and also had lived in Ephrata and Boise briefly.

Mrs. Sanders was a riveter during World War II at Brown’s Industries and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She enjoyed baseball, singing and listening to music.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a son, Roger of Spokane; two daughters, Carol Richmond of Coeur d’Alene and Judy Young of Spokane; a sister, Janet Owen of Kimberly, Idaho; 21 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Leslie Ashley

Post Falls

No service will be held for Leslie B. Ashley, 89. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ashley, who was born in Grand Junction, Colo. , died Sept. 29.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene 14 years ago.

He and his wife, Florence, lived at Fairwinds retirement community in Coeur d’Alene for nine years and moved to Post Falls in 2002.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Charles Ashley and Eleanor Ashley; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Roberts

Spokane

Private service was held for Bonnie Rae Roberts, 53.

Mrs. Roberts, who was born in Phoenix, died Sept. 24.

She was a longtime resident of Spokane and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Charles, died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Ray Marriette of Spokane; a daughter, Lorene Vestal of Oregon; four brothers, David, Gary, Kurt and Dennis; five sisters, Tracey, Millie, Donna, Karen and Gina; her mother, Ruth Rauschenberg; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Kermit Jacobs

Spokane

Memorial service for Kermit Quillen Jacobs, 68, will be Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1802 N. Raymond, Spokane Valley. Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jacobs, who was born in Clarendon, Texas, died Sept. 29. He was a resident of Spokane Valley for 38 years.

He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956, and joined the Navy that year. While in the Navy he graduated from the Navy’s machinery repairman program and achieved the rank of 1st class petty officer.

He left the military in 1959 and married Dorothy Jenkins that year.

Mr. Jacobs was an upholsterer for 32 years, and also had worked for Inland Empire Paper Co.

His hobbies included reading, fishing, bird watching and traveling in his motor home.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Thomas of Anchorage, Alaska, Kent of Spokane Valley and Jesse of Spokane; a daughter, Anita of Spokane; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Dr. John Elvidge

Liberty Lake

Funeral for Dr. John Joseph “Jack” Elvidge, 62, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Dr. Elvidge, who was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday.

In 1965 he graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport. He moved to Spokane in 1972 and opened a chiropractic practice in Spokane Valley.

Dr. Elvidge was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Darcy; three sons, Channing, Scott and Jim Elvidge, all of Spokane; two brothers, Dan and Bob Elvidge; three sisters, Shirley Hancock, Sharon Linz and Janet Smith; and six grandchildren.

George Lynch

Spokane

Visitation for George E. Lynch, 94, will be today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at West Greenwood Cemetery in Nine Mile Falls.

Mr. Lynch, a lifelong resident of the Four Mounds area, died Monday.

Born in Spokane, he grew up on his parents homestead. He remained on the family farm his entire life, and was a farmer.

He was the township clerk and a volunteer with District 5 Fire Department. He also served on the Central School District board, and the West Greenwood Cemetery District as commissioner.

His wife, Alice, died in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Lehman, and two sons Edward and Bill Lynch, all of Nine Mile Falls; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Louis Freund

Spokane

No service will be held for Louis G. Freund, 92. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Freund, who died last Friday, was born in Spokane.

A resident of Spokane for 80 years, he served on the USS Saratoga during World War II and in the Korean War in the Naval Reserve as a chief petty officer.

He was a shipwright, master carpenter and woodworker for the Davenport Hotel.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University, and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a master’s degree.

Mr. Freund was a clinical psychologist with Lakeland Village and was a school psychologist in Sedro Woolley (Wash.) School District, retiring in 1977.

His wife of 53 years, Margaret, died in 1996.
