Random searches going to the dogs
BREMERTON – The State Patrol now says it will not have to conduct random searches of cars at state ferry terminals, thanks to dogs.
Capt. Fred Fakkema said the patrol has borrowed enough bomb-sniffing dogs from other police agencies. He said that will meet Saturday’s Coast Guard deadline for increased security.
Fakkema said the patrol expects to graduate enough dogs from its academy in Shelton by next month to allow the borrowed dogs to go home.
