Darvin Hauser
Elmer City, Wash.
Memorial service for Darvin Lee Hauser, 62, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Coulee, with burial at Spring Canyon Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hauser died Thursday.
He was born in Bismarck, N.D., where he lived and worked until joining the Army in 1959, serving until 1962.
He lived in Kellogg from 1962 to 1976, working for Bunker Hill Co. and earning his electrical apprenticeship. In 1976 he moved to the Grand Coulee area, where he was employed as an electrician for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation until his retirement in 1997.
During the summers from 1997 to 2001, Mr. Hauser worked as a journeyman electrician dispatched from Electrical Workers Union Local 73 in Spokane. He was a member of Local 73 for 30 years.
He had a winter home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Mr. Hauser was a member of Grand Coulee Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, carpentry and electrical jobs.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; two daughters, Lori Hauser of Electric City, Wash., and Janet Adams of Phoenix; two stepdaughters, Genny Rockwell of Grand Coulee and Amy Eckert of Wenatchee; a stepson, Mark Atchison; his mother, Jane Smith of Bismarck, N.D.; a brother, Marlin McCurdy of Spokane; three sisters, Marlys Ward of Bismarck, Lyola Farnsworth of Osburn, Idaho, and Bobbi McCurdy of Gilbert, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Lyle Swenson
Deer Park
Funeral for Lyle Walter Swenson, 77, was Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park.
Mr. Swenson, a longtime resident of the West Branch area of Deer Park, died last Monday.
Born in Butler Township, Minn., Mr. Swenson served in the Army in the early 1950s.
He was a general carpenter in the Spokane area for many years and retired in the late 1980s.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Lodge in Deer Park.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; six children, Lyle Swenson of Spokane Valley, Darlene Wagner and Debbie Michaels, both of Deer Park, Kathy Jansen and Sandy Decker, both of Spokane, and Nick Sidwell of Newman Lake; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bernice Alexander
Spokane
No service will be held for Bernice M. Alexander, 84. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Alexander, who died Wednesday, was born in Newell, W.Va. She was a lifelong resident of Spokane.
She served as a sergeant in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II.
She was a homemaker and a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church and Lady Elks.
Her husband, Francis, died earlier.
Survivors include a son, Francis Alexander; a daughter, Karen Wigen; a brother, David Covert; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
