“Legs for Life” Screenings – Deaconess Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital, Sacred Heart Medical Center, St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute, Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Inland Northwest Health Services and the Community Health and Resources office have banded together to provide free leg screenings for peripheral vascular disease, or PVD, a common crippling condition. Appointments are available Sept. 20-24 and will be taken starting today for several locations in the area. For information or to make an appointment, call the CHER office at 232-8154.

Babysitting Basics – Youths ages 10-15 can learn the responsibilities of both the sitter and the parents, practice infant and child CPR and discusses discipline issues. Meets on Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Holy Family Education Center, room 1, 5633 N. Lidgerwood. The cost is $38 per student and registration is required. Basic Life Support: First Aid – This course covers the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes to function as a first-aider. Includes adult CPR. Students must pass a written and performance test. Meets on Sept. 18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $57 per student and registration is required. For information, call the Community Health Education and Resources office at 232-8138.

Tobacco Free During Pregnancy – The Community Health and Education and Resources office is offering this course for pregnant women to help them quit smoking. The course is free and dinner is provided. Participants will also receive a $10 incentive at the end of the class. Register today for classes that start next Tuesday and run through Oct. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the CHER office at 232-8139.

Lunch Hour Yoga – U-District Physical Therapy, 125 S. Cowley St., is presenting this 40-minute class starting Wednesday and continuing through Oct. 18, 12:10-12:50 p.m. Workout to increase your strength, flexibility and balance while reducing your stress. For information, call Debbie at 458-7686.

Second Annual Parkinson’s Parade of Parks – Parkinson’s Regional Center of Spokane is hosting this fund-raising walk through Manito Park on Saturday. This year’s three-mile walk will include a Find Your Twin game and will have Parkinson’s tulips for sale. Yoga

Yoga and Pilates Classes – All fitness and experience levels are welcome at the Fitness Studio of the Warehouse Athletic Facility, 800 N. Hamilton.
