Sandpoint tops Post Falls
Post Falls recorded a first in its Inland Empire League boys soccer match against visiting Sandpoint on Monday. But in the end, it was “same-oh, same-oh.”
For the first time, the Trojans had a lead on the Bulldogs with only the second goal Post Falls has scored in the series – by Ashley Evans on a direct kick from 27 yards out in the 42nd minute.
But two minutes later, Brent Henry connected for Sandpoint to make it 1-1 at halftime, and second-half goals by Chris Hepperly and Kyle Van Dyke earned the Bulldogs the 3-1 win over the Trojans (2-1-1 IEL, 5-1-2 overall).
Girls soccer
Justine King‘s goal off a corner kick at the 12-minute mark that deflected off a couple of defenders provided the winning margin as Central Valley collected a 2-0 non-league win over visiting Sandpoint. Sara Wilson had a goal and an assist for the Bears… . In another non-league match, Lewis and Clark used a 10-9 advantage in shots to pull out a 2-1 win over Lake City.
Volleyball
Corrina Hendrickx was 26 for 26 serving, including eight aces, and Nonna Johnson had nine kills to lead Lakeside (4-2) to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-15 non-league win over Logos in Moscow.
