Sylvia (Streeter) Kammerzell
Mead
Funeral for Sylvia (Streeter) Kammerzell, 87, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Farmington Seventh-day Adventist Church in Farmington, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kammerzell died Wednesday.
She was born near Palouse, where she attended schools.
She married Palmer Kammerzell in 1938 in Colfax, and the couple lived north of Farmington, where they purchased a farm. They semi-retired in the late 1980s and moved into Tekoa in 1998.
Following her husband’s death in 2002, she moved to Prairie View Adult Care Home in Mead.
Mrs. Kammerzell was a member of the Farmington Seventh-day Adventist Church and a life member of the Tensed, Idaho, Grange and the National Grange.
She enjoyed cooking and had cooked for several years at the Tekoa Bowl and Cafe in Tekoa in the 1960s.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Kammerzell of Farmington; a daughter, Darlene Holmes of Colville; a brother, Wilbur Streeter of Seattle; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Darrold ‘John’ Johnston
Spokane
No service will be held for Darrold “John” Johnston, 60, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mr. Johnston, a lifelong resident of Spokane, died Sept. 10.
He was a retired sheet metal worker and owned Aair Heating from 1977 to 1983.
He was a master craftsman and gardener, and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbi; three sons, John, James and Michael Johnston; four sisters, Carole, Marilyn, Joanne and Roberta; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Frances Shellhorn
Sandpoint
Private gathering is planned for Frances King Shellhorn, 93. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shellhorn, who was born in Los Angeles, died Tuesday.
She married Edmund Shellhorn in 1936. He preceded her in death.
She worked as an executive secretary for Rockwell and lived in Manhattan Beach and Cathedral City, Calif., before moving to Sandpoint in 1968.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Shellhorn; a brother, Howard King; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wauneta (Swank) Fuson
Hauser Lake, Idaho
No service will be held for Wauneta Flo (Swank) Fuson, 91, at her request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of cremation.
Mrs. Fuson, who was born in Colby, Kan., died Tuesday.
As a single mother, she packed up four of her five children and moved from Torrington, Wyo., to Cataldo, Idaho, in 1946. Her other son joined her after finishing high school in Wyoming.
She married Elver Fuson in 1945 and became stepmother to three children. The family settled in the Coeur d’Alene area in 1946.
The couple had two more children .
Her husband preceded her in death.
She is survived by five children, Glen Graves of Buffalo Gap, S.D., Marge Drapeau of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Shirley Clapper of Hauser Lake, Patricia “Trish” Anderson of Austin, Texas, and Terry Miland of Medical Lake; 44 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Vernon Benshoof
Spokane
No service will be held for Vernon James Benshoof, 79, at this time. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Benshoof, who died Sept. 17, was born in New Rockford, N.D.
He moved to Spokane in 1930 and graduated from North Central High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
After the war, he returned to Spokane and worked for 20 years for Modern Machinery and left the company to work at Playfair Race Track as a horse trainer for another 20 years.
In 1990 he married Sandy Brown.
Mr. Benshoof enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife; four children; four stepchildren; a brother, Ken Benshoof of Redmond, Ore.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Aldura ‘Mae’ French
Spokane
Memorial service for Aldura “Mae” Stewart French, 74, was held Satudray at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mrs. French died Sept. 9.
Born in Marshall County, S.D., her family moved to a farm near Deer Creek, Minn., when she was 12. After high school she moved to Minneapolis, where she worked as a photo finisher.
She joined the Air Force in 1951, where she met John French. The couple married in 1953, and moved to Spokane in 1954.
Mrs. French worked for Pacific Trail and a few other companies for about nine years.
Her hobbies included quilting, sewing and genealogy, and she was active in voter registration, quilting clubs and the PTA.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dan; a daughter, Jackie Runkel; seven siblings; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Paul Clark
Spokane
Graveside service for Paul Lee Clark, 80, was held Saturday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clark died Sept. 10.
He was born in St. Maries and in 1927 moved with his family to Spokane.
Mr. Clark served in the Army during World War II in Burma and India.
He worked for Utter Motor Company for 44 years.
He was a Big Brother to two young boys and was president of GoCarts. Survivors include four sisters, Mona Eckhart, Edith Foedisch and Marie Hughes, all of Spokane, and June Wallis of Bakersfield, Calif.
Ruth Sardinha
Ford, Wash.
No service will be held for Ruth Sardinha, 78, at her request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Sardinha, who was born in Pollock, Calif., died Sept. 10.
She lived and worked in San Jose, Calif., where she retired from the International Microelectronic Products Co. as a manufacturing specialist in electronics.
She moved to Spokane in September 1992 to be with her son and later settled near Ford, Wash.
Mrs. Sardinha enjoyed the summers planting flowers and gardening. Her hobbies also included reading, knitting, and arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Ron Pandolfi; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
